1) In order to file for divorce in Michigan, you or your spouse must have been a resident of State of Michigan for at least 180 days, and you must have resided in the county where the divorce complaint was filed for at least ten days prior to filing and;

The Timelines and Time-Limits in a Michigan Divorce
Michigan has a waiting period after filing for divorce. A divorce without minor children may be granted after 60 days from the date of filing. A divorce with minor children may be granted after six months from the date of filing. The court can short or waive the time period.
